Bermuda History - Timeline 1500's

1503
Bermuda was discovered by Juan de Bermudez, the Captain of La Garza, a Spanish vessel.

1511
In Spain a book of recent Spanish discoveries had in it a map of an island named La Bermudas.

1543
A French map of the world, showing La Bermuda was published.
Spanish Rock was inscribed with this date.

1593
Henry May, an English traveller spent a few months time on the island after surviving the wreck of a French ship.
