Tennis
Bermuda introduced tennis to the United States in the 1870s. The Bermuda Lawn Tennis Association is the official governing body for the sport and its website contains a complete listing of local tournaments. The major tennis event of the year is the XL Capital Bermuda Open, which is part of the ATP Tour Challenger series. This tennis spectacular is held at the Coral Beach and Tennis Club and features men who are ranked 50 or higher on the ATP Tour. The Bermuda Open is usually held in early April. There are plenty of government tennis courts available for the person looking to knock the ball around while on their vacation. There are nine municipal courts – four of them clay — at the Joell Tennis Stadium located just outside of the City of Hamilton.
Squash
There are two squash clubs in Bermuda: The Bermuda Squash Racquets Club, which is home to official governing body, and the Moresby Squash Club, which is located in Dockyard. The island hosts the Bermuda Open, an official event on the Professional Squash Association tour, in April. Islanders Nick Kyme and James Stout are currently ranked in the top 200 players in the world.
For more information on specific events go to Calendar of Events.
