Tourists can enjoy two free cruises and a host of other perks this Cup Match thanks to a Bermuda Department of Tourism (BDOT) initiative announced today.

Following the promotion of Cup Match Summer Splash last year, BDOT is again sponsoring local events and activities as an added incentive for visitors during the holiday weekend.

According to the department, last year more than 1,000 tourists took advantage of the Cup Match visitors stall and the two BDOT hosted cruises were well attended.

Business Development and Tourism Minister Wayne Furbert said: "We have organized and sponsored these events so that during the Cup Match holiday our visitors will have plenty to see and do and more importantly engage in the festivities with locals and enjoy the atmosphere and excitement of Cup Match in Bermuda."

He added: "We hope Bermudians will encourage their friends overseas to come to Bermuda and enjoy Cup Match and take advantage of the events and activities that will be held on-island to enhance our visitors experience."

In conjunction with the Bermuda Hotel Association, BDOT will again host the visitor stall at the Somerset Cricket Club on August 2 and 3. On both days of Cup Match, visitors will be allocated a seating area to enjoy the game, beverages and festivities.

On Thursday, August 2, the Department will also host a visitor's tent at BeachFest where guests will be given a complimentary seating area and refreshments. BDOT is an official sponsor of the very popular BeachFest and the Soca vs Reggae concert and party at the Royal Naval Dockyard on Friday, August 5.

The weekend of on-island events will culminate with two free cruises for visitors only. On Saturday, August 4 the Department will host a Sunset Swizzle Cruise and on Sunday, August 5th a cruise to view and enjoy the festivities at the Non-Mariners Race and raft-up in Mangrove Bay.

BDOT today released the on-island schedule of events and activities during the Cup Match Holiday. In order to attend the cruises, visitors must RSVP to tcthompson@gov.bm by July 31.
