Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute (BUEI) is designed to amaze, excite and inform every visitor. You will leave with a new understanding and appreciation of the world's oceans, their beauty and power, their diversity in plant and animal life and their importance to the very survival of our planet.
BUEI features two floors of inspiring interactive displays that reveal the secrets of the deep ocean. Discover Bermuda's greatest unsolved mystery the "Tucker Cross" and view other amazing marine artefacts discovered by legendary diver and explorer Teddy Tucker. Encounter the last monster of the deep, the Giant Squid, with eyes the size of dinner plates and grows to 60 feet in length. Be in awe of the Jack Lightbourn Shell Collection, incredibly beautiful. Experience the past and present of underwater exploration, is the Exosuit for outer space or ocean depths? Voyage to Bermuda's depths; dive 12,000 feet in a simulated submersible. Experience a simulated shark attack, step into our shark cage if you dare! We invite you to have fun and explore our many interesting and fascinating exhibits. Is there a Bermuda Triangle? There is a wealth of information awaiting you!
Introducing our newest interactive exhibit...PlayMotion Jellies! Using nothing but the human body, PlayMotion allows the player to interact with the exhibit in the most natural way possible. PlayMotion experiences are played by moving one's body in free space. PlayMotion provides edu-tainment experiences you cannot have anywhere else. Makes learning fun!
Special events, lectures, glow worm cruises and whale-watching trips, are available too for an added fee. If all that activity makes you hungry, Harbourfront Restaurant is a lovely choice for lunch or dinner.
Over the last ten years we have been extremely successful in carrying out our BUEI Mission: to advance the understanding, appreciation and knowledge of the ocean, so we may encourage the protection and preservation of the marine environment.

May is Ship Wreck Month
BUEI exhibits artefacts salvaged from shipwrecks throughout Bermuda’s history. Many shipwreck artefacts from the past are used today in Bermudian homes from furniture, to serving pieces, silverware, and glassware. BUEI exhibits artefacts still used today and emphasizes the importance shipwrecks meant to Bermuda’s economy, past and future, as we celebrate the wreck of the Sea Venture! What was life like in the past? How are some artefact functions related to today’s Bermudians needs and uses? Past and present come together and enrich Bermuda’s history through the exhibition of BUEI’s plethora of shipwreck artefacts and the famous Titanic and its Bermuda connections.
