Horton's Original Black Rum Cake

Internationally awarded for “Excellence” by the Gourmet Retailer Magazine,
The Original Horton’s Black Rum Cakes have no equal. “Taste, packaging and presentation” were reasons cited for the award. Since 1985 they have been known for their light and moist texture and were featured at the Athens Olympics, presented at Nelson Mandela’s legendary birthday bash and had Washington’s movers and shakers buzzing about the incredibly delicious dessert at a reception for the Smithsonian’s Folk Life Festival.
Note: Be advised that if rum cakes don’t say Horton’s on the label, they are NOT the Bermuda Originals! Look for the Horton family name on the label of The Original Horton’s Bermuda Black Rum Cakes!

Joan Forbes at Art House Gallery

Having mastered several artistic mediums, Joan Forbes, is an island treasure found. A native to Bermuda, her artistic renderings of the landscape, the homes and the flora and fauna are truly brilliant color works. Joan studied graphic design and fine art at Concordia University School of Art in Montreal, Canada, where she received many awards for outstanding work. Her ability as a precise draughtsman brought her success in the advertising world for many years. She opened her own studio, The Art House, in the mid seventies and it is here that she displays her original art along with a large selection of hand signed lithographs and unique crafts. Regularly commissioned, Joan's art is enjoyed by many world wide.

Kitten Ellison at Bermuda Craft Market

This is where Kitten Ellison is most at home --- at her work table amongst other Bermudian artists in the Craft Market at the Royal Navy Dockyard. With a 'flick' of her wrist and her own blend of colours, she creates a multitude of art on china, clothing, glassware and jewelry. Having studied and taught Ikebana (Japanese flower arranging) for 17 years , a chance remark from a student asking me if I would be interested in learning the art of Sumie, started me on the road to my present business. Althougth Kitten is an accomplished painter, but she would probably admit that her first love is gardening, which is why it is not surprising that her art work on china, glass and fabrics brings to life the the beauty of the flowers and plants for which Bermuda is so famous.
