Tavern By The Sea is one of St George’s most popular waterfront restaurants and is located on Somers Wharf in the historic old town.
Many patrons enjoy the freedom of coming by boat and tying up dockside.
This fine restaurant has a casual elegance about it that is relaxing and makes one forget about the rest of the world as the turquoise water gently laps up against the sea wall.
The primary reason for its popularity is the consistently delicious food and drink served by friendly and competent staff and because it can either be a romantic dinner for two or welcoming for the whole family.
In the cooler months, get cosy on the heated porch or in the summer sit out under the stars on the large terrace, either way there is something for everyone here.
The Lobster specials are among the best on the Island for taste and value as a three course meal starts at around $35.00. We recommend you try our Chef’s Lobster Thermidor which is diced lobster meat in a mushroom-brandy cream sauce served in the half shell topped with Hollandaise sauce and baked golden brown.
Along with the lobster menu the extensive menu which is served from 11.30am everyday offers local and international cuisine. We specialize in Indian food, and offer a variety of curries’ served as spicy as you like! Or try a Wiener Schnitzel from the German menu along with specially imported German beer, one of the few places on the island to sell it!
We can boast to having the best Pizza on the Island which is served in two sizes and is available for take out, chose either one of our selection or make your own.
The lighter menu offers a varied array of salads, our house special includes the very popular Avocado and Shrimp salad. Homemade soups, delicious hearty sandwiches, pub fare and not forgetting our tasty starters from Escargot, Calamari and our delicious garlic Mussels.
We have a large Children’s menu available and of course mouth watering deserts which can be followed by one of our delicious coffee’s. The selection of beverages ranges from Sparkling water to draft beers with our very own “Tavern by the Sea” cocktail. We serve an extensive selection of Wines from European to New World wines; something to suit everyone’s taste.
