Travel Planning

Travel Documents - Visitors must have a return or onward ticket, or other proof on onward travel in order to enter Bermuda. One-way ticket holders could find themselves heading back to their origin before they ever leave the airport immigration area. A driver's license and/or birth certificate is NOT an acceptable proof of citizenship. Proof of citizenship and passport is also required of adults and children travelling alone or with their parents.

Immigration & Customs Paperwork - You will need to fill out two forms prior to entering Bermuda, an Immigration form and a Customs form.

The immigration form requires a valid machine readable Passport valid for six months after date of entry into Bermuda required by all nationals from Britain, Australia, Canada, USA or other EU countries. Depending what country you are from you may need a Visa.  Before entering Bermuda, it is essential to be in possession of either a return or onward ticket to a country to which one has a legal right of entry. Anyone arriving in Bermuda and intending to return to their own country via another one which requires a visa must obtain such a visa before arrival in Bermuda.

The Customs form must be filled out declaring any gifts you are bringing to Bermuda. Be aware that fruits and vegetables are not allowed in Bermuda and must be discarded before entering the country.

Married women using their maiden name on identification documents, but who are travelling under their married name should also carry their marriage certificate as further proof of identity.

The permitted length of stay is initially three months. For extensions, permission should be sought from the immigration authorities in Bermuda.
