Bermuda is a destination like no other. Pink beaches and turquoise waters provide the perfect backdrop to any special occasion, especially one as important as a Wedding. Locals are very blessed to carry on Bermuda Wedding Traditions year after year, however Bermuda is growing in popularity as a perfect destination wedding location. In fact, in 2015 alone, there were over 3,000 visitors to the island for destination weddings alone.
Editorial magazine Destination Weddings & Honeymoons tends to agree with this trend. In their upcoming May/June 2016 issue, Bermuda is featured as one of the top 10 wedding destinations within 3 hours of travel from a major US city. Specifically, in the article titled ‘Love is in the Air (and on the road)’, Bermuda is noted as a quick 2 hour and 20 minute flight from New York. As an easily accessible destination wedding, the magazine notes Bermuda as a nice contrast to other drive-able locations such as the Poconos in New York State. Bermuda, a ‘British over seas territory – marooned in the Atlantic Ocean 600 miles from the coast of North Carolina – Retains a tropical-island vibe, albeit genteel’, a place where ‘pubs and pink beaches coexist in perfect harmony.’
Noting specific Bermuda Wedding Traditions, such as newlyweds walking through a Moongate for good luck, the feature also mentions local resort The Reefs as a romantic option for nuptials and reception. Located at the top of a cliff, The Reefs offers a perfect backdrop for ‘I Do’s’, not to mention a stunning location for wedding photography. The intimate hotel boasts casual elegance with its own secluded pink beach, also perfect for vows or sunset dinner with fresh Caribbean inspired dishes from Coconuts Restaurant.
